Business Development Manager – Health and Natural Ingredients

CPL Executive Search is seeking a Business Development Manager, an enthusiastic and strong communicator, well versed in client development and relationship management, and with an established network in the UK/EU’s health and natural ingredients, herbal products, supplements, personal care, cosmetics or nutraceuticals markets (e.g. algal sourced natural ingredients, omega fatty acids, EPA and DHA). They must possess a strong understanding of business aspects to leverage our Client’s offering so as to address customer needs, and for developing the appropriate strategic plan and budget. Proven track record for all aspects of the sales process and experience in a Technical Sales, Product Development or Applications role within the Food industry are desirable.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing UK/EU industrial networks and identifying prospective new clients and re-establishing relationships with past or lapsed clients. Work collaboratively with the Client’s Directors and Group Leaders to generate high level sales calls and a business plan

• Act as the primary interface with new clients in first year
• Develop and communicate strategy and tactical plan to achieve business development goals
• Manage business development budget and assist with resource planning and pricing of proposals
• Deliver the sales identified in line with the sales strategy and objectives
• Prepare sales forecasts, monitor sales volume, revenue and resource spend against forecast
• Plan, develop and help manage business development operations and performance
• Cultivate and develop relationships and accounts to become the preferred supplier
• Work closely with colleagues and utilise company resources to meet client requirements and specifications
• Work with all relevant parts of the organisation to ensure sales targets are capable of being and are met
• Support and contribute to the development and role of the business development strategy within the Company
• Monitor and adapt sales activities making sure the Client’s and customers’ businesses are aligned
• Identify problem areas and plan to regain market/relationship with customers
• Identify and evaluate new market trends/opportunities and develop these opportunities to increase market share
• Actively promote the company profile at conferences, tradeshows and industry seminars
• Establish and maintain contacts and records across the relevant industry sectors
• Develop and implement global and regional B2B program

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with a successful track record in technical sales in personal care, nutrition and food ingredients business
• Proven track record of new business development achievement in all aspects of the sales process
• First Degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry or life science degree
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience
• Excellent business and commercial acumen with well-developed negotiations skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills to build rapport at all levels and stakeholders
• Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to provide customers with innovative business solutions
• Able to feedback market information and develop ideas and concepts with the product development team
• Proven management and influencing skills including motivating and inspiring colleagues to fulfil opportunities

PERSONAL

• Must be able to confidently communicate with clients at all levels regarding business and technical needs.
• Able to screen prospective clients to focus on those that appear profitable and sustainable.
• Positive attitude – Achiever, self-motivated, persistent in following up and willingness to develop skills
• Current Driver’s License
• Strong and swift decision making skills are required and must be able to think in a strategic manner
